Best Hawaiian LuausThe Best Hawaian Luaus preserve the authentic Hawaiian traditions in a way for guests to enjoy the Luau Party. We have listed some of the more popular Luaus on the Hawaiian islands and offered a description of what to expect. If you find yourself in Hawaii, be sure to leave time for one of these truly extraordinary Hawaiian Luau Party events.
Old Lahaina Luau
The Old Lahaina Luau takes pride in presenting an authentic Hawaiian Luau. The food is cooked in a modern style Imu – an underground earthen oven. The menu offers traditional Hawaiian Luau food such as laulau, poi and poke. Plus, there is an assortment of regular foods such as chicken, tenderloin steak and rice for the less adventurous folks in your party. Upon sunset, the entertainment tells the Hawaiian story of migration from polynesia, presents an ancient style hula with chants and contrasts this with the modern hula influenced by immigrants and tourists. 1251 Front Street, Lahaina, Maui
Paradise Cove Luau
The Paradise Cove Luau, although highly commercial, preserves the unifying experience of the traditional Hawaiian Luau Party. Much of this is achieved through the numerous activities on the 12 acre grounds such as the leis making classes, the hula dance instruction, the unique Hawaiian games or sharing in the pulling of the fishing nets. This provides a sense of participation rather than simply consuming and observing like other Hawaiian Luaus. Even so, the Paradise Cove Luau is a great place to relax and enjoy for the casual person. There is a nice evening show, a spectacular sunset and perhaps the most authentic part of the Hawaiian Luau – the traditional way of cooking in real Imu. You will see the food unearthed from where it was slowly cooking between hot lava rocks and banana stumps under the soil all day. 92-1089 Alii Nui Drive, Kapolei, Oahu
Royal Hawaiian Luau
The Royal Hawaiian Luau is held at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel on Waikiki Beach. The menu includes traditional Hawaiian Luau food such as laulau and poi along with mainstream dishes such as teriyaki steak and rice. The evening is capped off with the entertainment of Hawaiian songs and hula dancing. This is a great evening of dining and entertainment but more tourist oriented than the other Luaus. 2259 Kalakaua Avenue, Honolulu, Oahu |
